Creative Whiz Kid Seeks Career

Hello potential employer, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Ed FitzGerald, but my friends call me “Chops”.

I’m 25 years old, full of ideas, but have nowhere to ply them.

Over the course of my short life I have been a backpacking and canoe guide, an architectural metal refinisher, a coffee shop baristo, a research assistant, and a web developer. I’ve done a lot of things and, I would like to believe, done them well.

Most recently, I’ve been pursuing my interest in historic architecture by earning a master’s degree in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University. In between the heady academic debates and cocktail parties, I managed to write a thesis which I am quite proud of. Simply put, this 300-page masterpiece uses tax assessment records to project the deterioration of stone buildings in New York State. This projection was then used to forecast maintenance and repair needs and the need for craftsmen skilled in these areas.

Academic? Yes! But this massive undertaking serves as a good example of my determination and ingenuity—qualities that I will bring to the workplace. I’ll also bring a great attitude, sharp analytical mind, and the occasional witty joke!

Have a problem that needs solving? Well, rest assured, I will find the answer. I’ve managed to teach myself four web coding and programming languages (without the aid of an “X for Dummies Guide”) and am currently working on a third language (il pense qu'il est très futé).

So please, take a look around this site where you'll find my CV, a gallery of my web and graphic design work, and samples of my writing. If you like what you see and read and you have need of a creative whiz kid with a winning personality, then hire Chops!
